Computational Genomics Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Genomics Specialist to join our team within the Translational Genomics Program.
The successful candidate will work with Dr Drew Neavin to develop and implement computational methods for statistical genetics and single-cell 'omics research.
This role involves working with large-scale genomic data, including WGS, RNA-Seq, and scRNA-Seq, and applying machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms to identify patterns and relationships.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics, computational genomics, or data science, and experience with programming languages such as Python and R.
They will also have excellent problem-solving skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
In addition to supporting the outlined research activities, opportunities will be made available to pursue and publish leading research.
About the Role:
- Develop and implement computational methods for statistical genetics and single-cell 'omics research
- Work with large-scale genomic data, including WGS, RNA-Seq, and scRNA-Seq
- Apply machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms to identify patterns and relationships
- Collaborate with other group members and national and international consortia
Requirements:
- PhD or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Genomics, Data Science, or related field
- Strong background in programming languages such as Python and R
- Experience with Unix and HPC environments
- Demonstrated experience using version control for code development and curation
