Scientific Researcher Position: Genomics and Computational Biology

We are seeking an exceptional Scientist to join our dynamic team at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to contribute to cutting-edge research in genomics and computational biology.
As a Snow Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be part of an exceptional research team in a Snow Medical Lab based at a leading Australian biomedical research institute. You will have the opportunity to lead significant projects, develop new skills in a supportive environment with a strong emphasis on scientific excellence, and focus on impactful questions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform high-quality independent research, including the development of study hypotheses, designing and executing experiments and analyses, and the preparation of high-impact scientific manuscripts and presentations.
- Actively contribute to the development of research projects and collaborations, and the preparation of research grant proposals and progress reports.
- Co-supervise and mentor students and junior research staff.
- Actively contribute to a culture of scientific excellence through adherence to research best practices, rigorous quality control, and reproducible science.
- A PhD in a relevant discipline, such as Genomics, Functional Genomics, Population Genomics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Statistical Genetics.
- Highly autonomous with a strong motivation for independent research.
- An outstanding publication track record, with demonstrated ability to lead projects to completion.
- Excellent time management, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills.
- A problem-solving mentality: able to navigate complex technical obstacles, and work effectively with colleagues to solve them when needed.
- A competitive salary of $92,300 + 14% super + salary packaging (depending on experience).
