Family Services Specialist

The position is within a family-focused program, part of the broader community services team. Based in Southern Melbourne, it is part of the wider team focusing on family preservation and reunification.

This specialist will provide casework as part of the team, offering direct case management to families. The role involves working collaboratively with other professionals and stakeholders.

This is a Full-Time Fixed Term position based in Dandenong South, VIC, until 30.06.2026. The position reports to the Family Services Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing risks, needs, and safety for families through comprehensive assessments and case planning.
  • Providing individualized support to families through direct case management and coordination of services.
  • Collaborating with other professionals and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for families.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with community agencies and services to ensure access to necessary resources and support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, child development, psychology, or a related field.
  • Understanding of contemporary family violence frameworks and interventions with vulnerable children, young people, and parents with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of child development and challenges faced by vulnerable children, young people, and families.
  • Skills in assessing risks, needs, and safety for families.
  • Experience in casework and case management with culturally diverse families.
  • Ability to engage with vulnerable children, young people, and families.
