Family Support Specialist

This is an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Aboriginal children and families.

  • As a Family Support Specialist, you will work closely with families to provide support and guidance in achieving their goals and aspirations.

The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build rapport with families and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for assessing the needs of families and developing tailored support plans that address these needs.

  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Providing family-centred services and support to Aboriginal children and families
    • Conducting comprehensive assessments to determine family needs and develop individualized support plans
    • Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting families
    • Engaging with families to identify their strengths and goals and develop strategies to achieve them
    • Developing and maintaining relationships with community members and organizations to promote partnerships and collaboration
Requirements
  • Qualifications in a relevant field such as social work or community services
  • Minimum 4 years industry experience working with Aboriginal families and children
  • Demonstrated experience in trauma-informed practice and culturally appropriate engagement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Valid Police Check and Working with Children Check
