About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the annual performance appraisal cycle, including coaching managers through effective goal-setting and performance management.
  • Interpret and advise managers on enterprise agreements, industrial instruments, and labor legislation.
  • Negotiate and implement enterprise agreements, ensuring a collaborative approach and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of representing the business in commissions and tribunals.
  • Advising and leading managers through employee disciplinary processes, including performance management and terminations.
  • Prepare formal letters and notices in relation to addressing grievances and performance issues.
  • Respond to internal complaints in a prompt, fair, and thorough manner, including conducting internal investigations and providing advice to managers.
  • Assist managers in managing high absenteeism, misconduct, and breaches to company policy, employment contract, or legislation.
  • Plan and conduct exit interviews.
  • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding process.

Requirements

  • Exposure to industrial relations and HR management.
  • Qualifications in human resources, compliance, or other relevant areas are advantageous.
  • Experience dealing with multiple hiring managers.
  • Experience with managing union relationships, handling industrial disputes, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, ensuring compliance with labor legislation, and managing grievance procedures.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Effective communication capability, verbal and written.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR/business or equivalent experience.
  • Previous professional experience as a HR generalist.
  • Experience with managing IR/ER matters.
  • Strong people agility.
  • Sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act.
  • Professional experience in a unionized workplace.
  • Knowledge of enterprise agreements and award-governed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and own car.
