Job Description

Job Title: Director of Community Visiting and Advocacy

Job Summary:

The Director of Community Visiting and Advocacy is a senior leadership role responsible for leading and facilitating the efficient and effective operation of the Community Visiting and Advocacy unit within The State of Queensland.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Strategically lead the delivery of contemporary client-centered and responsive Community Visiting and Advocacy services that comply with the Public Guardian Act 2014.
  2. Data-Driven Decision Making: Strategically use data and quality review outcomes to deliver service excellence and a culture of continuous improvement to practice quality, visiting services, and advocacy.
  3. Collaboration and Partnership: Work in partnership with the Director of Community Visiting and Advocacy (North) to coordinate consistent delivery of Community Visiting and Advocacy services across Queensland.
  4. Strategic Advice: Provide strategic high-level advice to the Deputy Public Guardians and Public Guardian on matters relating to Community Visiting and Advocacy services.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Establish collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Team Management: Lead the business unit in relation to work planning and review, staff development, team management, and communication to ensure the efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources.

Mandatory Qualifications and Conditions:

  • Possession of a C class driver's license is a mandatory requirement for this role, as travel is required to attend meetings, events, and visits in a range of locations that are often not accessible by alternative means.
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant work experience relating to law, social, health, behavioral sciences, or related disciplines is highly desirable.
  • A mandatory condition of this role is a Working with Children Check clearance (Blue Card). If you do not already have one, The State of Queensland will guide you on how to apply.
