Job Summary

Mission Australia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Community Engagement Facilitator to join our team. As a Community Engagement Facilitator, you will play a critical role in facilitating and coordinating community engagement and building capacity within the community and the broader service system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Engagement: Identify key community groups, service providers, and sectors that should be targeted for community engagement and capacity building activities.
  • Project Management: Implement project management skills to manage and coordinate activities aligned to the Community Capacity Building and Community Engagement & Awareness plans.
  • Capacity Building: Build capacity and connections to the community to offer opportunities for children, and culturally and linguistically diverse people to increasingly participate in the local community.
  • Mapping and Recording: Map Mission Australia's service contribution to improving access and inclusion throughout the project implementation and record the measurements of community wellbeing, and the impact of the capacity building plan over time in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Understanding and Analysis: Understand the CALD and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities and their barriers, and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
Requirements for Success
  • Qualifications: Hold a qualification in Allied Health, Social Work, Disability, Community Services, or Community Development or equivalent.
  • Local Knowledge: Possess strong local knowledge of the community and the ability to work effectively with local stakeholders.
  • Community Services Sector: Have a sound understanding of the community services sector, including in the delivery of services where deep, concentrated, and persistent disadvantage exists.
  • Community Development Approaches: Experience in implementing Community Development approaches and data analysis and research skills is desirable.
  • Reporting and Data Analysis: Proven ability to execute high levels of reporting and ability to identify inaccuracy in data.
  • Teamwork and Autonomy: Ability to embed yourself into teams to work effectively and also have the ability to work autonomously.
  • Cultural Competence: Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, LGBTIQA+, and CALD communities.
  • Driver's License: Must have a Full driver's license with no restrictions.
