About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Debt Recovery Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, where you will be responsible for assisting and supporting our Mercantile and Debt Sale vendors in maximising recoveries and minimising bad debt.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Work collaboratively with the Billing & Credit team and other key stakeholders to deliver on strategic goals;
  • Owning the continuous improvement model in all aspects of the Debt Recovery Management cycle, identifying, quantifying, and resolving internal control gaps, and implementing effective controls through root cause analysis;
  • Provide trusted input into critical recovery processes and activities;
  • Support the development of budgets, forecasting, and scenario analysis models;
  • Generate recovery insights by conducting efficient and accurate deep dive data analysis;
  • Provide short- and long-term insight and intelligence on Optus' debtor segments;
  • Work closely with the Collections and Recoveries team and Mercantile Vendors to set up and maintain reporting analytics and dashboards to supervise results;

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Business/IT/Commerce or related business field desirable;
  • Experience in an analytical role, including preparation of financial models and cases;
  • Solid understanding of MS Office, Teradata SQL, relational databases, SQL developer, Oracle SQL, and Alteryx;
  • Solid analytical, conceptual, strategic, and commercial skills, with a background in statistical modelling/model validation;
  • Exceptional communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills, as well as exceptional project and time management ability;
  • Adept at conducting deep analysis to uncover areas to be addressed to improve the customer experience and financial outcomes for the team;
  • Confident to present your findings to all levels of the business, internally and externally;
  • Ability to handle your time well as the time of your collaborators;

About Us

  • This role is based in Sydney, NSW, Australia;
  • The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience;
