Alma Road Community Care Unit Overview
Job DescriptionAs a Peer Worker at our Alma Road Community Care Unit, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges to achieve recovery and independence.
You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver medium to long-term care based in St Kilda. Your expertise as a peer support worker will be invaluable in helping consumers develop coping strategies, plan for their future, and engage in meaningful community activities.
This is a unique opportunity to share your lived experience and inspire hope and belief in recovery for others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide input to the group program and offer one-on-one support to consumers
- Collaborate with the team to design and implement care plans that promote consumer-led recovery
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that reflect best practice in peer support work
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A personal understanding of mental health challenges and the ability to use your experience to inspire hope and recovery
- Experience in providing peer support in a formal capacity
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate the guiding principles of peer support work
- Effective time management and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of consumer-led recovery principles
- Current Driver's Licence
- Police Check
- Working with Children check
- IPS training
