About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Peer Support Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a personal story of supporting a loved one through mental health recovery that included substance use or dependence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one peer support to carers, helping them feel understood and equipped in their caring journey.
  • Facilitate group programs and community engagement initiatives to promote resilience and connection among carers.
  • Drawing on your lived experience, create safe spaces for others to share their stories and connect with peers who understand their challenges.

Requirements
  • Personal experience of supporting a person with a mental illness, or psychological distress and recovery in addition to substance use or dependence.
  • Certificate IV/Diploma in Mental Health, AOD or related tertiary qualification in social science or 1+ year relevant work experience in mental health sector.
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia.
  • National Police Check.
  • International Police (if required).
  • Current Working with Children Check - Employee.
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check.
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Modules – free online course.
