We're seeking an experienced Compliance and Remuneration Strategist to join our team in the Payroll Division. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in ensuring the university meets its payroll compliance requirements, providing strategic guidance on remuneration matters, and leading a small team of payroll compliance specialists. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of payroll compliance strategies, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution and effective risk management.
  • Provide expert advice on remuneration matters, including employment conditions, legislation, and policy documents, to ensure accurate and compliant decision-making.
  • Oversee a team of payroll compliance specialists, guiding them in their roles, and providing coaching and training to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of payroll processes and procedures to identify potential compliance issues, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Bolster relationships with stakeholders across the university, fostering open communication, and building trust through effective collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of payroll compliance activities, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the process.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in a complex payroll environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise initiative, flexibility, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build strong relationships and lead high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying EA conditions, legislation, and policy documents.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a focus on achieving shared goals and objectives.
