Housing Law Specialist

The Department for Housing and Urban Development's key goal is to deliver homes and housing options for South Australians.
Our mission focuses on coordinating various portfolios related to housing, infrastructure, urban development, and planning.
The Legal Officer is accountable to the Chief Legal Officer and responsible for providing high-quality strategic advice on legal, policy, and legislative reform issues.
- Provide expert advice and support on legal matters associated with the performance of the Department's functions.
- Identify legal issues and risk and prepare instructions for expert legal advice as required.
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with agencies and stakeholders.
- Assist with the development and review of policies, procedures, and templates.
To be successful in this position, you must demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:
- Experience in identifying complex legal issues under limited supervision.
- Experience providing advice to government agencies on legal issues using high levels of initiative and judgement.
- Ability to prioritise competing workloads and work to tight deadlines.
This role requires a deep understanding of the Department's goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior staff.
