
Experienced Breastfeeding Specialist Wanted

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lactation Consultant to join our team at Armidale Hospital. As a valued member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in providing expert support to women and their babies who require assistance with feeding.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Developing personalized feeding plans for expectant mothers, which will be followed through postnatally up to 10 weeks after birth;
- Providing support and guidance to women with complex feeding issues;
- Liaising with speech pathologists and paediatric registered nurses to ensure comprehensive care;
- Delivering breastfeeding classes to expectant mothers in the local area;
In addition to these key responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to engage in continuous professional growth by taking on additional hours within the wards, allowing you to develop your skillset and expand your expertise across a range of areas in maternity.
You will be part of a close-knit team that values collaboration, mutual respect, and open communication. Our Maternity Unit Manager, Lactation Consultants from other locations, and the multi-disciplinary team in maternity will provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure your success in this role.

To be eligible for this position, you must be a Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA, holding at least 5 years of full-time equivalent post-registration experience. Additionally, you should possess approved post-registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field or such other qualifications deemed appropriate by the employer.
