Orthopaedic Surgeon Opportunity in Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital

At our hospital, we are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our team. With 265 beds, our facility is a major health hub in the heart of the New England / North West region of NSW providing high-quality patient-focused care. We offer a unique opportunity for an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to work with us.


As an Orthopaedic Surgeon at our hospital, you will be part of a supportive team that includes four permanent Registrars and three JMOs. You will be allocated to various departmental duties, including elective surgery, trauma theatre, orthopaedic and fracture clinics, daily ward rounds, on-call roster, teaching, and supporting the Registrar team. Our hospital provides a dynamic environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Providing admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth, and on-call services as required by our Health Network.
  • Attending work hours and being available during on-call periods, including clinical handover, supervision, teaching, and emergency and routine care.

We require applicants to have a strong background in Orthopaedic Surgery, with Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery) and/or specialist registration with AHPRA. Applicants must demonstrate recent and comprehensive experience in Orthopaedic Surgery, alongside skills in education, research, and communication.
