Senior Claims Manager Role

  • We are seeking an experienced professional to manage member claims and investigations in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  • This role offers potential permanency and the opportunity to contribute to national process improvements and change initiatives.
  • The successful candidate will provide guidance and technical support to claims staff on optimising claim outcomes, including breach, causation, and quantum principles.
  • They will also educate members, staff, and external bodies on medico-legal, clinical risk, and claims matters as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage member claims and investigations in accordance with Avant's protocols and guidelines.
  • Contribute to national process improvements and change initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to claims staff.
  • Educate members, staff, and external bodies on medico-legal, clinical risk, and claims matters.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in law or health.
  • 5+ years' experience in medical negligence law, either in private practice or an insurance environment.
  • Senior claims management experience in a medical indemnity environment is desirable.
  • Advanced understanding of medical indemnity law and insurance principles.
  • Strong financial acumen and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance and health law, with excellent communication and advocacy skills.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills in a legal and/or claims environment.
