About the Role

The Deputy Director, ANC Rules and Authorities, plays a critical role in establishing, managing, and continuously improving the ANC Framework to ensure the seaworthiness of naval vessels operating in the defence of Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a small team responsible for the development and upkeep of Naval Classification Rules and management of competent organisations within a regulatory framework.
  • Direct and motivate team members to meet tight deadlines and deliver complex products.
  • Lead, plan, and deliver critical and complex to very complex engineering activities, including providing advice in all relevant engineering disciplines and management systems.
  • Evaluate engineering activities to understand critical factors for success and engage in continuous improvement and innovation to ensure that delivered materiel meets requirements.
  • Liaise with stakeholders (including industry) to seek feedback regarding improvement of the ANC Framework.
About Our Team

ANCA is a newly established growing team in Defence, responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving a system of naval classification (the ANC Framework) to assure the seaworthiness of naval vessels operating in the defence of Australia.

The Branch has a combination of both Australian Public Service (APS) and contractor workforce and has engaged a long term Sovereign Industry Partner, Bureau Veritas, to support ANCA work.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a dynamic individual to manage a broad range of activities including ANC Framework Rule Governance and ANC Delegation Governance.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, a proven level of stakeholder engagement, and sound professional judgement.

They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate to various audiences influencing better decision making.

The candidate will exemplify resilience, responsiveness, and attention to detail, and be accountable for developing, supporting, and reviewing team and branch performance.
