The Australian Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Deputy Director, Explosives Personnel Policy. This position is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of all learning and development initiatives within Defence, specifically relating to explosives safety. The successful candidate will lead the planning, development, and execution of comprehensive learning and development programs tailored to the needs of personnel handling explosives. The Explosives Safety Regulatory Framework (ESRF) is an outcome-focused, principle-based framework that aligns with Commonwealth Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation for managing the risks that Explosive Ordnance presents. The Directorate of Ordnance Safety (DOS) administers the ESRF for Defence, maintaining the knowledge necessary to inform the management of critical explosives safety risks within the Defence Enterprise. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in guided weapon and explosive ordnance learning and development, as well as the ability to lead, mentor, and develop a learning and development team to enhance their skills and effectiveness in delivering high-quality educational content. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and influencer, able to lead a team of technical and engineering professionals. They will be proficient in the use of a wide range of tools to aid in carrying out their work, including Microsoft Office tools, modelling applications, and other IT systems.
