About the Role

The Australian Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Deputy Director of Energy Transition. This role will play a critical part in driving the implementation of the Defence Future Energy Strategy, which aims to reduce the environmental impact of Australian Defence Force platforms and maintain interoperability with allies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team to integrate clean fuel/energy technologies for use in Defence platforms and provide technical advice to inform Defence energy policies.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to discuss Defence's fuel and future energy requirements.
  • Develop technical reports and advice for senior Defence officials, Defence Committees, and Inter-Departmental Committees.
  • Collaborate with Commonwealth agencies, state and territory governments, and industry to identify opportunities contributing to ADF's clean energy transition.
  • Identify future opportunities to develop ADF fuel/energy resilience through energy efficiency measures to enhance operational effectiveness.
