About the Role

The Deputy Director Project Management Office (PMO) will support the Health Knowledge Management (HKM) project. The Deputy Director will be accountable for performing and achieving complex tasks meeting Defence expectations, exercising both initiative and sound professional judgment in applying the appropriate practices and procedures as required to ensure project outcomes are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to ASJICB on project schedule, risk, budget, and resources in accordance with organisational requirements;
  • Preparing correspondence, briefs, and reports as required, including submissions and documents for higher delegate and committee consideration;
  • Building and sustaining stakeholder engagement, including the ability to communicate with influence and negotiate effectively;
  • Analysing and interpreting project performance against agreed plans and developing and evaluating strategies to achieve project outcomes.
About Our Team

The Joint Information Capabilities Branch (JICB) is one of four branches within the Joint Capabilities Division of the Australian Public Service (APS). JICB develops and manages a number of capabilities, including Joint Simulation Capabilities, Joint Cyber & Influence, Assured Position Navigation Timing, Joint Electronic Warfare, and Project Management Office (PMO) including Health Knowledge Management.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Deputy Director Project Management Office (PMO). The ideal candidate will have:

  • A can-do attitude and an ability to inspire and maintain a positive attitude towards complex problems, while using sound judgment and understanding the impacts and risks to strategic outcomes;
  • Outstanding time management and organisational skills, while remaining resilient and adaptable to changing plans and priorities;
  • The ability to work effectively independently and provide leadership of teams;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and be comfortable engaging, negotiating and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders while building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships;
  • Prior experience in project management and an understanding of project management processes and methodologies;
  • Well-versed in Agile Project Management Methodology and experience working within health is highly desirable.
