Business Development Manager Job Description

The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong commercial acumen and a passion for driving results. They will lead our team, grow the business, and deliver exceptional customer value.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of operations at our Geelong branch – leading sales, operations, and team performance.
  • Drive revenue growth, improve profitability, and champion a culture of safety, service, and success.
  • Work closely with key customers, build high-performing teams, and deliver operational excellence from order to delivery.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Owning the branch P&L and driving profitable growth across all customer segments and product categories.
  • Developing and executing a clear commercial plan to grow revenue, expand market share, and protect margin.
  • Analysing performance trends, customer insights, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Managing pricing strategy, cost control, and sales mix to maximise EBITDA.
Sales & Customer Growth:
  • Owning the state P&L and delivering on revenue and margin targets.
  • Leading a customer-first sales culture focused on solution selling.
  • Building and managing strong relationships with major contractors and project partners.
Operational Excellence:
  • Ensuring efficient warehouse, logistics, and inventory operations.
  • Driving improvements in delivery performance, service levels, and cost efficiency.
  • Working with supply chain teams to manage stock availability and demand.
Safety, Quality & Compliance:
  • Leading by example in safety and compliance.
  • Maintaining and improving safety culture and HSEQ standards across sites.
Team Leadership:
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing, commercially minded team.
  • Embedding a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
  • Managing rosters, budgets, and team development using effective strategies.
Financial Management:
  • Managing budgets, reporting, and cost control.
  • Identifying and acting on opportunities to improve profitability.
