About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Support Specialist to join our team in Toowoomba. As a key member of our Family Support Program, you will play a vital role in improving the stability, confidence, and competence of parents to care for their children and ensure their wellbeing and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Family Support Services: Provide information, advice, and case management services to families and young people, ensuring they have access to the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to care safely for their children and young people.
  • Community Linkage: Function as a link between families and resources/services in the community, facilitating connections and support networks.
  • Engagement Strategies: Effectively use strategies to engage hard-to-reach families, promoting participation and inclusivity.
  • Program Development: Design and deliver programs to assist parents, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
  • Network Development: Establish and maintain networks with agencies, partnerships, and community services, ensuring a collaborative approach to family support.
Program Goals
  • Wellbeing and Safety: Improve the wellbeing and safety of children, young people, and their families, promoting a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Family Capacity Building: Build the capacity of families to care for and protect their children, empowering them to make informed decisions.
  • Prevention: Prevent entry or re-entry to the statutory child protection system, promoting early intervention and support.
