About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Therapeutic Specialist to join our team at MacKillop Family Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting young people and their families through the implementation of therapeutic strategies and plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic strategies and plans for each individual young person, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Provide guidance and support to our staff in the implementation of therapeutic strategies, ensuring that they are equipped to provide high-quality care and support.
  • Collaborate with our team of experts to develop and implement culturally sensitive and effective care plans for young people in residential care.
  • Work closely with young people, their families, and other stakeholders to identify and address the root causes of trauma and disrupted attachment.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with young people, their families, and other stakeholders, ensuring that they feel safe, supported, and empowered to achieve their goals.
Requirements
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • Post Graduate training in relevant child, adolescent, and family clinical practice, family work, and systemic thinking.
  • Thorough understanding of the impact of trauma, disrupted attachment, and abuse/neglect on a child or young person's development and wellbeing.
  • Substantial experience in working therapeutically with young people and demonstrated capacity to persevere to achieve positive outcomes when working with young people who have experienced trauma and have complex needs and presentations.
  • Demonstrated a thorough understanding of Aboriginal and CALD cultures to provide culturally sensitive and effective care for young people in residential care.
  • Valid and current Driver's License; Satisfactory Criminal History Check; Valid Employee Working with Children Check; Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check.
