To succeed in this role, it is essential that the individual identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. This requirement is based on section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

About The Position

This key role involves coordinating ATSICHS Brisbane's traineeship program, guiding trainees through their Certificate level qualification. As a Trainee Mentor, you will oversee the onboarding process, coordinate training activities, and provide comprehensive support throughout the traineeship.

Duties

  • Lead the mentoring program for Indigenous Employment and Training Programs.
  • Monitor trainee progress through regular face-to-face and non-face-to-face contact to ensure safe and successful completion of traineeships.
  • Collaborate with employers to discuss future workforce needs and identify potential employment opportunities for trainees.
  • Negotiate positive outcomes with managers where differences arise between the workplace and trainees, and assist in resolving trainee issues.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, job active networks, apprenticeship agencies, and RTOs, to support recruitment, enrolment, and completion of traineeships.
  • Foster connections and enable transparency and collaboration across teams, IUIH, and stakeholder networks.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary of $73,000 per annum (estimated), commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • 11.5% Superannuation + access to salary packaging, increasing your take-home pay.
  • Covid-19 Requirement: Immunisation history showing two doses of Covid-19 vaccine is encouraged.

Requirements

  • Certificate III or IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
  • National Police clearance.
  • Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or willingness to apply.
  • Working with Disability Card (Yellow or NDIS Card) or willingness to apply.
  • Driver's License.
  • Immunisation.
  • Evidence of working rights.
  • Medicare provider number.
  • Travel between work sites regularly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or willingness to acquire.
