Business Excellence Leader

To achieve our purpose, every individual plays a vital role in shaping the world around them. We are looking for a Business Improvement Superintendent to lead and direct the location's lead team strategically.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a site-wide business improvement strategy using Alcoa's management operating system (ABS). This includes managing a small team of Business Improvement Specialists on-site and coaching the leadership team to apply ABS methodology effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a business improvement plan tailored to the location's needs.
  • Providing expert advice and coaching on ABS principles and their implementation.
  • Leading business improvement and problem-solving activities across all levels of the organisation.
  • Supporting the management team in overcoming resistance to change.
  • Collaborating with area managers to achieve operational excellence through ABS methodologies.
  • Facilitating regular audits with the lead team to assess management systems' effectiveness.
  • Ensuring the location completes core Business Standard audits and maintains these standards.

This role is crucial to the success of the ABS team, working closely with regional and global teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Ideal candidates will hold a tertiary qualification – a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, business management, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Proven experience leading and implementing change within the manufacturing, mining, or heavy industry as a senior change leader.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills to coach the location's leadership team in embracing quality management concepts.

Ability to influence and motivate individuals at all levels of the organisation.

Advanced problem-solving skills and a high-level understanding of team dynamics.

Practical knowledge of applying continuous improvement methodologies to enhance business processes and systems.
