About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to lead a team of Sponsor Monitoring Officers in the Sponsor Monitoring Unit Queensland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and leading a team of officers who undertake sponsor monitoring activities, visa pre-decision verification checks, and associated case management responsibilities.

The role involves applying and interpreting legislation and associated policy documents relating to sponsor obligations, undertaking site visits and conducting client interviews, and managing high tempo compliance monitoring caseloads.

The Supervisor will also be responsible for preparing complex recommendation reports, drafting and issuing Notices of Intent to Take Action (NOITTA) and Infringement Notices, and recommending administrative penalties such as barring or cancelling sponsor.

The ideal candidate will possess effective leadership abilities, flexibility, and initiative in response to planning and allocating work in accordance with known and emerging priorities.

They will also have a good understanding of the relevant legislative powers of officers, ability to lead operational activity competently within those legislative boundaries, and highly developed analytical abilities to identify and assess program integrity risk factors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of Sponsor Monitoring Officers
  • Apply and interpret legislation and associated policy documents relating to sponsor obligations
  • Undertake site visits and conduct client interviews
  • Manage high tempo compliance monitoring caseloads
  • Prepare complex recommendation reports
  • Draft and issue Notices of Intent to Take Action (NOITTA) and Infringement Notices

Requirements
  • Australian citizenship
  • Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC)
  • Highly developed analytical abilities to identify and assess program integrity risk factors
  • Effective leadership abilities and flexibility
  • Good understanding of the relevant legislative powers of officers
