About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Sponsor Monitoring Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting investigations and performing other visa compliance activities, applying and interpreting legislation, policy, and procedures relating to sponsor obligations and visa pre-decision verification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits, educate business sponsors regarding their obligations, and conduct investigative interviews relating to sponsor monitoring and visa pre-decision verification checks.
  • Manage a compliance monitoring caseload with a high degree of independence, assessing evidentiary material, and preparing routine and complex documentation, including recommendation reports and decision records for approval by the Inspector.
  • Issue Notices of Intent to Take Action (NOITTA), Infringement Notices, recommending administrative penalties such as barring or cancelling a work sponsor or the issuance of an Infringement Notice where breaches of obligations are found.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including other law enforcement agencies, to disclose/request information appropriately, progress, and de-conflict caseloads.
