Senior Clinical Consultant for Dementia Care

Job Description

The role involves delivering tertiary level consultative services to NSW public inpatient services caring for people experiencing extreme behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).

As a senior clinician, you will participate in planning and service development, travel across Local Health District Regions as required, and deliver team-based CL (clinical liaison) services within inpatient settings.

You will contribute to the development and operation of the statewide tertiary clinical consultation and liaison service, collaborate with the OPMH Service and Policy Unit, and work as part of a small multidisciplinary team with opportunities for personal and professional development.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent under the Staff Specialists (State) Award); Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency;
  • Certificate in Old Age Psychiatry; sound clinical knowledge in Old Age Psychiatry; experience providing clinical consultation/liaison to services caring for people with BPSD;
  • Ability to travel across Local Health District Regions and provide team-based CL services within inpatient settings;
  • Sound knowledge of Recovery-based clinical practice and integrated Mental Health Care;
