Join our Service Team as a Boilermaker/Welder

This is an exciting opportunity to transform the industry and make a positive change in the sustainable use of natural resources.

We are seeking a skilled Boilermaker/Welder to join our team at Metso's newly built Karratha Service Centre. As a key member of our Service team, you will be responsible for various tasks including structural fabrication, welding, and repairing equipment.

  • Ensure all safety procedures have been completed prior to undertaking any tasks
  • Mark out/off structural fabrication and shapes according to specifications
  • Prepare material for bending, drilling or machining after dressing has been completed by the steelyard
  • Assemble and weld parts according to technical engineering drawings and route sheets
  • Repair, replace, modify and fabricate using appropriate tools and welding techniques
  • Perform appropriate welding to carry out the job
  • Operate hand tools and power tools appropriate to the job
  • Draw and interpret sketches appropriate to the job
  • Operate forklift/crane when required to shift and load equipment
  • Dismantle, replace and assemble engineering components during general fabrication section activities

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Boilermaker Trade Certificate
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Significant boiler making experience
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to complete weld test FCAW
