Fabrication Specialist

Role Overview

Our company is seeking an experienced Boilermaker to join our service team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in structural fabrication and welding, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This is a residential based position on an 8/6 roster. The successful candidate will be required to live in Karratha while working for our company.

• Ensure all safety inductions and procedures have been completed prior to undertaking any tasks
• Mark out/off structural fabrication and shapes according to specifications
• Prepare material for bending, drilling or machining after dressing has been completed by the steelyard
• Assemble and weld parts according to technical engineering drawings and route sheets
• Repair, replace, modify and fabricate using appropriate tools and welding techniques
• Perform appropriate welding to carry out the job
• Operate hand tools and power tools appropriate to the job
• Draw and interpret sketches appropriate to the job
• Operate forklift/crane when required to shift and load equipment
• Assist in the provision of on-the-job training when required
• Dismantle, replace and assemble engineering components during general fabrication section activities
• Conduct QA/QC inspections at third-party vendors, ensuring all repairs/project works are to our standards, liaising with Engineering and product support as necessary

• Boilermaker Trade Certificate
• Strong attention to detail
• Significant boiler making experience
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Ability to complete weld test FCAW
