About the Role

As a Child and Youth Worker with the Department for Child Protection, you will play a crucial role in guiding and empowering young minds to become confident and capable individuals. Your dedication and commitment will contribute significantly to creating a more inclusive and compassionate society.

You will be part of a team that contributes to:

  • Social Support: Providing guidance and assistance with personal care needs, including meals, meal preparation, and hygiene.
  • Activity Planning: Planning or attending activities and following daily routines to promote life skills.
  • Trauma-Informed Care: Offering trauma-informed care and supporting children and young people to manage challenging behaviours.
  • Assessment and Development: Assessing individual needs and developing the social and living skills of children and young people to facilitate their effective transition into the community and/or reunification or reconnection with their families.
Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive an estimated annual salary of $67,589 - $72,033, plus 11.5% Superannuation. Additionally, you will have access to training, leave, superannuation, recognition and rewards, ongoing learning and development opportunities, and employee assistance program (EAP).

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should have relevant job or volunteer experience with young people or possess transferable skills from working in a related field. Essential requirements include a South Australian Driver's Licence P2 or above, a South Australian Working with Children Check, First Aid certificate, and completion of an 8-week full-time induction program.

Location

The positions are available across Port Pirie, Port Augusta, and Whyalla.
