We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aboriginal Cultural Specialist to join our Mental Health Services team at the Women's & Children's Health Network.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to work with our diverse community, providing culturally responsive mental health care to consumers with complex needs.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Culturally Informed Engagement: Deliver expert cultural knowledge and skills to direct, support, orient, and educate other staff members.
- Mental Health Care: Provide culturally responsive child and adolescent mental health care to consumers with complex needs.
- Cultural Safety: Address cultural safety and undertake culturally informed engagement, assessment, education/advocacy, counselling, and group work.
- Team Collaboration: Engage in ongoing consultation, liaison, and co-work with other CAMHS disciplines, government, and non-government organisations.
What You'll Need:
- Demonstrated ability in integrating Aboriginal cultural experiences, philosophy, and practices into mental health services for Indigenous youth and families.
- Vast experience in conducting assessments and implementing interventions for Indigenous youth and families with complex mental health challenges.
- Proficiency in utilizing appropriate counselling and group work modalities tailored for Indigenous youth and families.
- Strong understanding of cultural, social, and emotional wellbeing issues impacting Indigenous youth and families, and government policy impacts on mental health outcomes.
