Chief Risk and Compliance Officer

This pivotal role plays a critical part in fostering a robust risk culture, overseeing significant risks, and delivering high-quality risk and compliance advice to drive business objectives.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Continuously enhance and mature the three lines of defence model, aligning with strategic goals to advance Risk and Compliance management and culture maturity.
  • Develop and maintain risk appetite settings, measure and report on risk metrics within tolerance limits, providing independent oversight on risk and compliance management.
  • Maintain a strong risk culture and leverage influencing and business partnering skills to establish effective relationships with key stakeholders.
Risk Management Oversight:
  • Provide check and challenge to first-line teams, conduct oversight and reviews as part of monitoring plans, and offer training and support for consistency and improvement.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen risk governance, identify and assess current and emerging risks, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Report on RAS and enterprise risk metrics to senior management and the Board, offering recommendations where deficiencies are identified and guidance on emerging risks.
Compliance Management Oversight:
  • Manage incident and breach assessments, monitor compliance with remediation efforts, and address privacy matters, conflicts of interest, and anti-money laundering requirements.
Key Requirements:
  • Experience: At least 15 years in risk and compliance within financial services, with a minimum of 7 years in the life insurance sector.
  • Education: Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Expertise: Advanced understanding of financial services regulators and proven ability to provide strategic risk advisory support.
