Correctional Officer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Correctional Officer to contribute to the safe, humane and secure containment of prisoners and their rehabilitation. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the community.

In this role, you will work on a fully rotational roster, including day and night shifts, public holidays and weekends. You will also be required to complete a 13 week training program at the Risdon site to develop skills for professional and effective correctional work.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also demonstrate resilience, maturity and flexibility, with high levels of literacy, numeracy and digital literacy.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the safe, humane and secure containment of prisoners and their rehabilitation.

Benefits:
  • Award / Classification: Correctional Officers Agreement
  • Salary: $64,583.00 to $98,356.00 per annum
  • Post-training salary range for Shift Work: $86,013 - $94,751 pa + super
  • Annual salary increases within this range in accordance with the Correctional Officers Agreement 2023
