
HR Generalist Specialist

The role of a People Development Specialist at our organization is to provide expert support to the People & Culture Business Partner in driving the people strategy across both our retail network and support office teams. This involves operational delivery, employee experience, policy interpretation, performance management, employment relations, and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for people-related queries across Retail and Support Office.
- Provide accurate advice and administrative support across the entire employee lifecycle, including onboarding, probation, performance, and offboarding.
- Coordinate and manage the employee benefits process and related initiatives to enhance the team member experience.
- Partner with the P&C Business Partner on cyclical people activities including performance reviews, engagement surveys, compliance programs, and policy updates.
- Support policy and procedure interpretation, ensuring leaders and team members understand and apply people processes consistently.
- Assist with ER case management, including investigations, documentation, and resolution in partnership with the P&C Business Partner.
- Manage store closure processes in collaboration with key stakeholders to minimize ER risk.
- Support the delivery of talent and succession planning activities to strengthen leadership capability.
- Prepare and maintain people resources including guides, templates, training collateral, and communications.
- Conduct salary benchmarking and calculations to support remuneration recommendations and annual review processes.
- Partner with Retail stakeholders to promote rostering best practice and optimize team effectiveness.
- Provide insights and feedback from across the business to inform people programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with the WHS team to facilitate tailored return-to-work plans where needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in a HR or P&C support role, ideally within retail or a multi-site environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships.
- A solid understanding of employment legislation, ER processes, and HR best practice.
- Strong organizational and time management skills – you're responsive and solutions-focused.
- Commercial thinking – you understand how people strategies connect to business outcomes.
