Senior Manager Indigenous Engagement

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our team at The University of Queensland, in a key role that will play a critical part in our Indigenous Engagement strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a Cultural Competency Framework across our organisation, with the aim of building capability, raising awareness, and generating effective engagement and collaboration across our teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing a Cultural Competency Framework
- Leading the implementation of the UQ Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) within our organisation
- Working in collaboration with senior managers to leverage productive linkages with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for research projects and activities in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Building relationships and Indigenous numbers across our organisation
- Supporting the delivery of an Indigenous Career Pathways and Advancement Strategy
- Assisting in the recruitment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff
- Providing mentorship and guidance to Indigenous HDR students
- Providing advice and support to communications teams and researchers on appropriate language and content representation of Indigenous stakeholders and related research
- Exploring collaborative internship and commercial opportunities with Indigenous communities and enterprises
- Identifying and mitigating risks that could impact on the effectiveness of our Indigenous engagement
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Indigenous cultural heritage, economic development issues, and the ability to correctly identify Traditional Owner Groups and engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
They will also have excellent interpersonal skills, highly effective communication skills, and the ability to initiate and implement strategic plans and programs.
