Job Description:

The Principal Policy Officer is responsible for providing strategic advice to the Victorian Government's Gas Substitution Roadmap. This involves identifying and developing pathways to decarbonise the energy sector in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and demands.

This position requires the ability to identify short and long-term policy synergies across DEECA and with other departments, as well as provide reliable and accurate advice on overlapping policy issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide responsive, succinct and authoritative written and verbal advice to senior executives on departmental policy direction and decision-making
  • Pro-actively build and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key stakeholders
  • Influence and negotiate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, papers, presentations, briefs, correspondence and speaking notes for various audiences
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess relevant university or higher-level qualifications in engineering, science and/or legal studies.

Benefits:

This is a fixed-term position available for 24 months with hybrid work arrangements available. The work location is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne.
