Job Description

This pivotal role in Liability Claims Management entails supporting our claims philosophy and strategy. As a mid-level professional, you will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end personal injury and property liability claims, adhering to legislative requirements to achieve targeted objectives.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Pro-active management of the claims process, resulting in accurate completion and validation of claims.
  • Managing SA and WA Liability Claims efficiently.
  • Interpreting policy coverage and determining if coverage applies to submitted claims, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Establishing and maintaining good client relationships with insured parties, brokers, investigators, solicitors, and the general public.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards.
  • Initiating and completing recoveries from third parties.
  • Self-auditing claims files to ensure positive internal audits.
  • Responding to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional, and courteous manner within Privacy guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Legal qualifications are advantageous but not necessary.
  • A background in Public Liability/Personal Injury claims is essential.
  • Experience with attending Informal Settlement Conferences, Mediations, and Trials is required.
  • Solid technical understanding and ability to manage a diversified portfolio of bodily injury, property damage, and product liability claims.
  • Understanding of underwriting procedures for a diversified liability portfolio and proven ability to interpret relevant policy wordings.
  • Ability to engage, instruct, and work with relevant providers including lawyers, loss adjusters, and consultants.
  • Understanding of the General Insurance Code of Practice and demonstrable application.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client/customer relationships.
  • Good problem-solving skills – ability to interpret technical/investigation reports to make sound business decisions.
  • Ability to participate in alternative dispute resolution.
