Claims Specialist

This role involves proactively managing a portfolio of sensitive, confidential and historical Liability claims.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the claims process to ensure accurate completion and validation of claims
  • Interpret policy coverage and determine if coverage applies to submitted claims, escalating issues as needed
  • Maintain good client relationships with insured parties, brokers, investigators, solicitors and the general public
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards
  • Initiate and complete recoveries from third parties
  • Audit claims files to ensure positive internal audits
  • Respond to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional and courteous manner within Privacy guidelines
Requirements:
  • Strong technical claims experience and expertise in managing complex Latent & Special Risk claims is preferred
  • Strong technical claims expertise in specialty classes of insurance, including managing complex bodily injury, including psychiatric and psychological injury, with sound decision-making based on technical, investigative, and medical reports
  • Proven understanding of underwriting procedures and policy wordings across a diversified liability portfolio
  • Skilled in engaging and collaborating with external providers such as loss adjusters, lawyers, and consultants
  • Expert knowledge and practical application of the General Insurance Code of Practice
  • Effective relationship-building with clients and customers, maintaining confidentiality and resilience
  • Capable of participating in alternative dispute resolution processes
