Meet the Spiritual Needs of Elderly Residents

As a pastoral care volunteer, you will provide emotional support and companionship to elderly residents in their homes. Under the guidance of our coordinator, you will help individuals meet their spiritual needs by engaging in conversations, listening to their concerns, and providing comfort.

The role involves visiting residents on a regular basis, usually once a week for an hour or more. This allows you to build relationships and establish trust with the individuals you serve.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in conversation with residents to understand their spiritual needs
  • Providing emotional support and companionship
  • Helping residents connect with their faith community or other resources
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills
  • Pastoral care training or experience in a similar field
  • 18 years or older
  • A national police check
