About the Role:

The Area Sales Manager position is a fantastic opportunity for candidates who wish to advance their careers in Field Sales and management.

This role involves overseeing a team of Territory Managers and merchandisers to execute in-store activities and achieve Field KPIs and Targets. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and developing a high-performance sales team through coaching and mentoring, as well as managing their own defined territory of stores to maximize sales opportunities.

Collaboration with the State Operations Manager is essential to ensure compliance across all channels within the assigned area. The Area Sales Manager will also identify additional sales opportunities through established relationships with key customer contacts.

Main Responsibilities:

Sales and Business Development

  • Establish and maintain relationships with Key Customers to capitalize on sales opportunities.
  • Meet with key customer contacts to upsell major activities and negotiate additional display activity.

In-Store Execution

  • Ensure in-store execution meets quality, freshness, and standards according to the Field Action Standards set under the My Perfect Store Guidelines.
  • Develop a plan to achieve display and execution quality targets as outlined in the Activity Execution Guide.
  • Ensure availability of all POS material for activations in-store, including timely ordering of POS to Local Sheds.

People Management

  • Coordinate, coach, and mentor Direct Reports, comprising Territory Managers and merchandisers.
  • Participate in the recruitment of Territory Managers, Regional Merchandisers, and seasonal helpers as required.
  • Ensure performance of Territory Managers aligns with Ferrero standards and core values, fulfilling the requirements of their roles.
  • Implement approved Performance Management Plans as needed.
  • Support the development and ongoing review of Individual Development Plans for all team members.
  • Comply with the year-end Performance Evaluation process for all Full-Time team members.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years' experience in territory or sales management within FMCG.
  • Essential experience working in the grocery channel.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and build relationships.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Resilient, driven, and determined to succeed.
  • Experience in managing and developing people is highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualification preferable within a business-related field.
