About the Role

This is a rare opportunity for a leader to have a positive impact on our State's environmental and human health outcomes. As the Executive Director, you will be leading a team of approximately 140 people across policy, strategy, Aboriginal initiatives, and financial management of the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

The Executive Director provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of modern risk-based regulatory policies, initiatives, and reform, to guide and enable protection of the environment and human health, and financial and business management to enable budgetary and compliance requirements.

You will be joining a highly collaborative and effective executive team, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, divisional executives, and external stakeholders to provide expert advice in relation to regulatory policy reform and strategic initiative delivery, and proactive response to emerging environmental, political, and community areas of concern. You will also provide financial leadership and strategic business decision-making.

About You

We are looking for an inclusive and empowering leader who builds high-performing teams with a clear purpose and outcomes focus. You will have extensive experience in regulatory policy leadership in complex and highly scrutinized settings, and have demonstrated exceptional stakeholder engagement experience, including industry, community, and government. It is essential that you are commercially astute with outstanding governance skills.

The Team

The Strategy & Policy Division brings the EPA's stewardship approach and strategies to life through policy, expertise, insight, and advice to positively impact environmental health, leveraging modelling and insights to create the vision and strategic plans for the NSW Government agenda. They also provide financial management and the funding strategy for the EPA to meet its requirements and achieve objectives.
