We are seeking a Claims Specialist to join our team, responsible for producing high-quality work products through effective investigating, reserving, and adjusting of claims. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse first reports of claim, suit or underlying material to determine nature of loss, coverage provided and scope of damage
  • Conduct or direct needed investigation relative to all aspects of reported claims, securing and filing supporting documentation and verifying accuracy, relevance and completeness
  • Establish accurate and timely reserves
  • Maintain active diary to achieve timely development of file and timely disposition
  • Provide exceptional service standards in line with best practice guidelines
  • Practise sound litigation controls over counsel
  • Promptly and properly document all developments in claim file
  • Meet with appropriate parties to litigation or claims, as necessary, to resolve issues
  • Effectively communicate with the Claim Department, Customer Services, Loss Control, Underwriting Departments, brokers, insureds, counsel, third parties and/or their legal representatives
  • May direct claim representatives to participate in file development and subrogation
  • Adhere to Insurance Contracts Act and all other relevant statutory rules and regulations
  • Exercise good judgement in reaching final disposition of claim by evaluating nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage provided and applicable limits
