Job Summary
Safety is fundamental to everything we do. We are seeking a Safety Specialist to adopt the core values of Health, Safety, Environment and Rail Safety program.

About the Role
The ideal candidate will work as part of the Cross Yarra Partnership Maintenance team. The role includes:
  • Implementing the safety culture during the Mobilisation Phase and Maintenance Phase
  • Assisting in establishing, implementing, and monitoring compliance with HSE & RS systems and procedures within the workplace
  • Supporting the development, reviewing and implementing of HSE & RS management plans
  • Supporting the SQE risk management activities, including working with the maintenance team to develop the Workplace Risk Assessment (WRA) and associated Activity Method Statements (AMS)
  • Supporting the risk transfer process from the D&C Phase to the Maintenance Phase
  • Providing day to day HSE & RS support to internal stakeholders
  • Analysing safety problems and recommending solutions to appropriate managers
  • Conducting routine HSE & RS inspections, monitoring and analysis of work areas
  • Conducting investigations of site accidents and incidents that may require litigation
  • Supporting the subcontractor engagement process, including safety requirements within subcontractor agreements
  • Reviewing subcontractor safety systems and processes, including Task Risk Assessments (TRA)
  • Preparing and maintaining reports and documentation concerning the aspects of the HSE & RS program
  • Maintaining knowledge of applicable rules and regulations, including government regulations, standards and policies
  • Maintaining knowledge of HSE & RS policies and procedures to enable the performance of assigned duties in a safe manner
  • Maintaining professional relationships with site personnel and key internal and external stakeholders to foster the professional image of the organisation
  • Performing all duties in accordance with policies, processes, systems and procedures
  • Providing a strong safety leadership to influence the safety climate and build a positive safety culture
  • Setting a positive safety example for the Project team members to follow and work towards
  • Supporting RIW systems, personnel training & induction and contractor compliance for the project

Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Cert IV in Environmental Management
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Quality, Environment, Project Management or other associated disciplines
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification, Internal Environmental Auditor Qualification
  • Train Track Safety Awareness
  • Construction/Maintenance HSE management experience (3+ years)
  • Experience in HSE management techniques and tools
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
  • Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spread sheet and email software
  • Ability to conduct and interpret audits and reviews
