Mechanical Fitters Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance crew at the Goonyella Riverside Mine. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of heavy mining equipment and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on fixed and mobile plant equipment.
  • Conduct preventative and breakdown maintenance in accordance with site procedures and schedules.
  • Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Record accurate maintenance activities using CMMS systems.
  • Collaborate with other trades and production teams to minimize downtime and enhance equipment reliability.

About You:

  • Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (Cert III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent).
  • Experience in a coal mining or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficient in fault-finding and troubleshooting large fixed plant and mobile equipment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures for conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, and bearings.
  • Coal board medical and Standard 11 certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong safety focus and proactive approach to risk management.
