Research Opportunities in Sustainable Forestry

The University of Melbourne seeks a Research Fellow to lead forest resource assessments using remote sensing and participatory GIS mapping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead research initiatives, collaborating with project investigators to produce high-impact publications and present findings at conferences and seminars.
  • Liaise with industry partners and government bodies to ensure practical relevance of research outcomes.
  • Contribute to teaching and supervision of research students, primarily at the undergraduate level.
Requirements
  • A PhD in forest ecology or a related field, with strong skills in GIS and remote sensing, and experience in designing and implementing field-based research programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GIS, remote sensing, or participatory mapping.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, with the ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary research environment.
