About the Role:
The University of Melbourne seeks a highly skilled Research Fellow to lead forest resource assessments using remote sensing and participatory GIS mapping to develop investment frameworks for sustainable forestry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead forest resource assessments using remote sensing and participatory GIS mapping.
- Collaborate with project investigators, contribute to high-impact publications, and present findings at conferences and seminars.
- Liaise with industry partners and government bodies to ensure practical relevance of research outcomes.
- Contribute to teaching and supervision of research students, primarily at the undergraduate level.
Requirements:
- PhD in forest ecology or a related field.
- Strong GIS and remote sensing skills.
- Ability to design and implement field-based research programs while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated experience in GIS, remote sensing, or participatory mapping.
- Publishing research in relevant areas, commensurate with experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary research environment.
- Experience in engaging with industry stakeholders and fostering collaborative partnerships.
