The Department of Home Affairs oversees nationally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in domestic national security, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, sovereignty protection, border integrity, and national infrastructure resilience.

Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency is the Australian Border Force (ABF). It also serves as Australia's customs service. The ABF aims to protect Australia's borders while facilitating legitimate movement across them.

Operational Readiness Branch delivers the ABF's operational safety governance and policy framework to prepare officers for safe and effective duties. This includes relevant skills and equipment.

The ABF Armouries Section manages firearms, personal defensive equipment, storage, maintenance, training, and use. It develops robust policies for safe and lawful force use when required.

Operational Safety Capability Section works jointly with ABF Armouries Section. It develops policies and practices for safe force use, operational safety performance management, and secretariat functions. These are in support of the Operational Safety Committee and Use of Force reporting.

The team handles a large suite of governance responsibilities from a use of force perspective.

About this Role:

You will perform a vital leadership role as a Supervisor in the ABF Armouries Training Support Team. You will work closely with senior levels of management to develop and maintain ABF armourer policy and associated governance. This will form the ABF armourer capability framework of the Australian Border Force.

You will contribute to providing advice on nationally consistent maintenance and servicing policy and procedures for all ABF firearms, training, resources, research, and development.
