Mater Private Hospital Townsville invites applications for a Floor Coordinator role within our Perioperative Services unit.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team, contributing to the development of theatre services and ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective service for patients and Visiting Medical Officers.

About this Role

As a Floor Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, providing clinical expertise, and supporting staff to deliver exceptional patient care. Key accountabilities include:

  • Optimizing staff allocations and skill mix to meet changing workloads and patient needs.
  • Coordinating clinical activities to maximize efficiency, ensuring timely meal breaks and reliefs for staff.
  • Serving as a clinical expert, demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise in your area of work.
  • Liaising with wards, departments, and personnel to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Working collaboratively with other team leaders to manage theatre activity and provide support in all clinical areas as needed.
  • Maintaining and enhancing clinical standards through audit and implementation of best practices.
  • Identifying quality improvement opportunities and communicating ideas to senior staff to enhance patient care.

About You

  • Australian Health Practitioner's Regulation Agency registration with a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in a relevant clinical area or specialty.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Perioperative Nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information effectively.
