About the Role

Mater Misericordiae Ltd, Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, is seeking a skilled Floor Coordinator to join our Perioperative Services unit.

In this full-time permanent role, you will work closely with senior staff to meet departmental objectives and develop the work of the theatre service.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective service is provided to patients and Visiting Medical Officers on a day-to-day basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring appropriate staff allocations and skill mix to reflect the changing workload and meet patient needs.
  • Coordinate all clinical activity to maximize efficiency and ensure staff meal breaks and reliefs are arranged in a timely manner.
  • To act as a clinical expert within the area of work, demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise.
  • Liaise and co-operate with wards, other departments, and personnel in the hospital.
  • Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the theatre department in the daily running and organisation of theatre activity.
  • Maintain and raise the clinical standard of care through audit and implement changes in best practice.
  • Identify and communicate quality improvement ideas to enhance patient care.

About You

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner's Regulation Agency with a current licence to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in a clinical area or specialty applicable to the unit.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Perioperative Nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information constructively.
