Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety and Training Officer to join our government client in Brisbane's CBD. This is a 6-month temporary position with a potential extension, offering a great team culture, hybrid working environment, and attractive hourly rate.

This role would suit an individual wanting to work behind the scenes, focusing on systems and updates related to legislation and risk.

About the Role
  • Assist in implementing and reviewing the Technical Services Health and Safety Strategy as part of broader requirements.
  • Contribute to developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety plans, procedures, systems, and processes to support business outcomes.
  • Support auditing schedules for continual improvement of the Technical Services HSEMS.
  • Develop statistical reports on HSEMS performance and associated projects for management review and improvement.
  • Understand and incorporate project and operational risk assessment processes into management plans and facilitate workshops to characterize relevant risks and controls.
  • Contribute to health and safety programs that meet legislative compliance and strategic objectives.
  • Review training needs analysis for the Business Unit, liaising with internal and external stakeholders for ongoing effectiveness.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to influence strategies for the work health and safety agenda.
  • Ensure the Technical Services HSEMS is developed in compliance with relevant legislation where required.
About You
  • A relevant Certificate IV, Diploma, or Degree in WHS, OHS is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in training and assessment is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of WHS legislation and its application.
  • Experience in a similar safety/training role, focusing on systems/risk management and processes.
  • Government experience is highly regarded but not required.

Estimated Salary Range

$70,000 - $90,000 per annum, based on location and industry standards.
